Weightlifting-2002-May 21 and 22
I Benched 205 in Weight Training class on 21st. Then I did 95lbs 25 times for Military and did 8 dips that afternoon.
I got a 5.9, then 5.8, then last try, a 5.7 forty time, and I wasn't that happy or disappointed. May 22nd-I get in and
try 365 once; couldn't get it. I wanted to try it again, but coach said to do 315, and I did it 6 times, to get a 375
on the max chart. But, I thought it was only 370-i thought I needed 175 clean to get into 750 club. I then decided
I needed to get all my adrenaline flowing, get real pumped up and mad, because I knew I never even attempted a 175 clean,
and couldn't get a 165 easily. I knew I needed the adrenaline. I thought about everything that would get me mad-how
my grandma Drollinger died before I got to know her, how she claimed I was the apple of her eye, how I didn't want to fail
her and God. I thought about how much I hated the cancer that killed her. I thought just what Coach Baldwin said-that
all standing between me and 750 was right in front of me. I tried 175 and...couldn't get it. I then went pacing
around, getting madder and madder-thinking about all kinds of situations and stuff to make me mad. I finally knew I
had enough adrenaline when my legs felt like they were walking on air-when they all of a sudden stopped hurting. I knew
this was the time. I thought about how happy I would be once I got it-I never thought about not getting it. I
knew failure wasn't an option. Somebody, I think good old Brett, said something about professional wrestling.
And then I was off-I lifted that bar as fast as I could. I barely even felt it in my hands, because I had so much adrenaline.
I stalled at the chest, but I knew I had it. I had done it-I had made the 750 club in one of my best efforts toward
anything ever. I knew that if I could do that, that I could become a professional wrestler. I know I will be the
best pro wrestler ever-FAILURE SIMPLY ISN'T AN OPTION.
And I just wanted to say Hi to Baldwin, thanks, and, as you see, it is up here.
Wrestling 2001-2002:
The team did good. Only lost 3 dual meets.
